It goes without saying the market is on the move and there’ll be winners and losers.  For my clients and RER Network Members we’re constantly focused on how we stay ahead of competitors and make it easy for clients to choose your agency as their preferred choice.

So a quick goal setting session with your team needs to ask 2 + 1 important questions…

  1. What does a strong finish look like for you?
  1. What does a brilliant start to 2022 look like for you?

+1. How are you going to reward yourself, your family and friends over the holidays       to ensure you recharge, refresh and have loads of fun?

The reason I say +1 is the first 2 are all about business (although you might ask some personal goals in there too).  While the +1 question is how can they have a holiday break to really look forward to.  Because for most real estate professionals, even if they’ve done well this year, they do really need the reward, recharge and refresh of a great holiday break.

You can do this exercise individually or as a group.  The most important aspect is your role as a leader to support them in achieving the goals they’ve set.

I’m stating the obvious but, when your team knows as a leader “I’ve got your back” all of a sudden, their performance steps up in the most remarkable way.

Why is this so important?

A lot of leaders start coaching their team by outlining the business goals and trying to figure out how they can get their team to achieve them. Hate to say it, but you’ll never, ever get there!

Why? Well, coaching is about bringing out the best in others and helping them step closer towards their future and goals – not yours!

Of course, when they’re succeeding – you’re succeeding.

Coaching will take your team from where they are now to where they want to be. Read that again: where they want to be!

If you watched the Michael Jordan documentary, The Last Dance, it brilliantly showed the art of coaching and the importance of coaching individuals one-on-one to help them achieve their goals.

Of course, when aligned, it will ultimately lead to amazing success. This style of coaching certainly led the Chicago Bulls to a record 7 NBA championships! If you haven’t seen it, as a coach, it’s worth the watch.

In terms of coaching your team as a real estate leader, you ideally want your team’s goals to align with your goals: to help more clients achieve their real estate ambitions to buy, sell, rent and live in properties.

Enjoy building your team success strategies and creating an amazing performance culture.
